Vital Infection Control Skills During Construction Projects Taught to Hospital Leaders Across Tennessee

Trainers and representatives from the Mid-South Carpenters Training Program and the Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council teamed-up in Nashville recently to present an Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Construction Training for 71 infection preventionists and facility/plant operations leaders from the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA).

Hospital staff from 33 hospitals across Tennessee received the training, which covered communication, awareness, protocols, and safety during healthcare facility construction projects. The point of ICRA is to protect patients, visitors, staff, and construction workers from potential harm associated with construction.

The 8-hour training program was led by Jay Schuelly, an instructor with the Mid-South Carpenters training program. The participants were presented with a Certificate of Completion in ICRA Construction Trades Best Practices Awareness.
